Did You Know?

Did you know that God loves you?

Did you know that God chooses people who mess up?

Did you know that Abraham, with whom God made a personal covenant to be the father of many nations, laughed at God, and dismissed God’s promise of a son in his old age?

Did you know that Abraham’s son, Isaac, was deceived into giving his blessing to Jacob, instead of the rightful, first-born heir, Esau? Did you know that, despite Jacob’s role in this underhanded plot, he was selected by God to become the father of God’s chosen nation, Israel, through whom God would bless all others?

Did you know that Moses, the man God personally selected to lead His people out of their captivity in Egypt, and on to the promised land, committed murder, persistently resisted God’s calling, and disobeyed a direct command from God, resulting in God’s refusal to allow him into the promised land, after wandering in the desert for forty years?

Did you know that Samson, chosen by God to be a mighty warrior, and blessed by God with great strength, kept company with women outside of God’s boundaries, and that he was eventually deceived by one of them, into revealing the secret of his strength, resulting in his betrayal, capture, blinding, and humiliation, at the hands of Israel’s mortal enemies, the Philistines?

Did you know that King Saul, chosen by God to be Israel’s first king, was eventually dethroned by God, for his willful disobedience?

Did you know that King David, who wrote most of the book of Psalms, and who was chosen by God to be the key royal ancestor of Jesus the Messiah, committed adultery and murder, and lost his own son because of his sins?

Did you know that King Solomon, author of The Song of Solomon, and much of the book of Proverbs, and gifted by God with wisdom and riches greater than all others, and who did many things that were very pleasing to God, also loved many strange women, and worshipped their false gods?

Did you know that Job, a devout child of God who was beset with many catastrophes and plagues by the enemy, all with God’s permission, questioned and argued with God, on many occasions?

Did you know that Jonah, chosen by God to preach to the people of Nineveh, was so bitter against them because of their sins that he didn’t want them to turn their hearts to God, and be spared from God’s wrath, and that he even fled from God to avoid this tasking? Did you know that, even after God took drastic steps to persuade Jonah to do the right thing, Jonah was still bitter, and angry with God, because the people of Nineveh listened, repented, and were saved?

Did you know that God’s own chosen people, the Israelites, worshipped idols and disobeyed God continually, even though God continually showered them with His Love, compassion, and mercy?

Did you know that God’s own chosen people, the Israelites, rejected Jesus the Messiah, Son of God, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Prince of Peace, who was even one of their own people? Did you know that God still has Love, compassion, and mercy for them, providing a means for their salvation, and a relationship with Him?

Did you know that Jesus didn’t choose any religious leaders or pious people of His day to serve as His disciples? Did you know that Jesus’s disciples, and His own brother, James, continually doubted Him, and were weak and unreliable, on several occasions?

Did you know that Jesus’s own disciples repeatedly fell asleep, during Jesus’s darkest hours, while Jesus was fervently praying, preparing Himself for His own torture and crucifixion?

Did you know that one of Jesus’s own disciples betrayed Him, leading to His capture and crucifixion? Did you know that Jesus’s own disciples scattered in fear, when Jesus gave Himself up, to be tortured and crucified?

Did you know that Jesus’s most passionate disciple and defender, Peter, denied Him three times, even while Jesus was being tortured and crucified?

Did you know that Jesus was forsaken not just by His own people and His own disciples, but also by His own Father, God in Heaven Himself, Who couldn’t bear to watch His own Son die a barbaric, horrific death on a cross, as the ultimate sacrifice and atonement for the past, present, and future sins of everyone in the entire world, forever?

Did you know that Jesus is the only person chosen by God who never messed up, not even once?

Did you know that our only hope for salvation, redemption, reconciliation, and a real, intimate, personal relationship with the one true God, leading to eternal life in Heaven with Him, is to accept Jesus as our Savior, and Lord of our lives, and to love God above all others, and to obey and walk with Him daily?

Did you know that, no matter how badly you’ve behaved, or how miserable you feel about yourself and what you’ve done, God wants to save you, forgive you, redeem you, heal you, hold you, encourage you, comfort you, walk with you, and have a real, intimate, personal relationship with you?

Did you know that God wants you to spend eternity in Heaven with Him?

Did you know that God chooses people who mess up?

Did you know that God loves you?
