Atheism vs. Truth

The following is a discussion about faith beliefs prompted by a friend’s post on atheism. That post is copied below, followed by the ensuing discussion, between another friend and myself.

Original post:

Atheism: An unknown caused an accident by accident. That accident created other accidents, which somehow through a lot of time caused the most fantastic and most complex and organized self-replicating factory of the universe. Atheism is better described as miraculous Accidentalism. But people in sheer crazy self-delusion, based on ignorance of who God is, try to cancel God out of the equation and believe the most idiotic nonsense.

Ensuing discussion:

Friend: Are you open and accepting to how others believe? I believe that to proclaim to be Christian yet putting down the beliefs of others cancels out the Christian part all together. Idiotic nonsense just cause I can’t convince myself to believe the same way you do? This post just makes me happy knowing I do not treat someone less for believing different.

Me: I’m sorry that you were offended by this post. That is never my intent. However, it is my intent to share the truth regarding God and His plan of salvation for our lives. We have all believed idiotic nonsense in our lives, at one time or another. It doesn’t mean we’re idiots, but only that we’ve been misled, or deceived, into believing something so outlandish that it can’t possibly be true. That’s exactly how it is with the misbegotten theory of evolution. There is so much solid scientific evidence refuting evolution that it can’t possibly be true. Therefore, the label of idiotic nonsense is clearly fitting. If you would like me to share more of that evidence with you, please just let me know.

Sharing the truth of God’s Word will occasionally offend people, but it doesn’t cancel out the Christian part in any way whatsoever. In fact, NOT sharing the truth of God’s Word can result in far more tragic consequences than offending someone by sharing it, the most severe of which is callously allowing people to die without Jesus in their hearts, sentencing them to eternal death in hell, apart from God or any hope whatsoever, forever and ever.

On the other hand, every time the truth of God’s Word is shared, someone has an opportunity to give their heart, soul, and life to Jesus, by acknowledging their sins, asking forgiveness, turning away from their sins, and placing their trust in Jesus for salvation, leading to eternal life in heaven with God.

The truth is that not all faith beliefs can be true, because they all contradict each other, in one way or another. Once you’ve accepted this truth, you should be highly motivated to seek out the one true faith belief, because that is the one that will decide your eternal fate. The One True God, who calls Himself “I Am” (Exodus 3:14), has made it simple for anyone who is genuinely seeking to find Him, by giving us His Word, in the form of the Bible, and in His Son, Jesus Christ. Additionally, He has given us the beauty and wonder of all His magnificent creations, including the universe and everything and everyone in it, so we have no excuse. (Romans 1:20).

Furthermore, God promises that when we seek Him, with all our hearts, we WILL find Him! (Jeremiah 29:13).

And finally, Jesus Himself ruled out the possibility of any other faith belief being true, when He declared, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6).

Salvation, the forgiveness of sins, is available to anyone who will trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. So how do we receive this free gift of eternal salvation? Simply by speaking with our mouths, and believing in our hearts, that Jesus is Lord, and God has raised Him from the dead. (Romans 10:9). From each of our hearts and each of our mouths to God, simply say a genuine prayer similar to the following:

“God, I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. With your help, I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness – the gift of eternal life! Amen!”

Once you’ve accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you’ll want to get involved with a good, Bible-believing Christian church, to worship, visit with other believers, and learn more about your salvation and what it means for both your life here on earth, and when that comes to an end, your eternal life in heaven with God.

Below, I’ve shared links to the Romans Road of Salvation description at, and an online Bible resource,

To learn more about Jesus and what He has done for us, I’d recommend reading the book of John, in the New Testament. To learn about the character and glory of God, I’d suggest reading the book of Psalms, in the Old Testament. road to salvation

Friend: Still one sided

Me: Truth is one sided by its very nature. If someone tells you that 2 + 2 = 5, you’re not going to tell them that that’s your belief, and that’s ok, because it’s true to you. No, you’re not going to tell them that at all. Instead, you’re going to tell them THE truth, not my truth or their truth or your truth, but rather THE truth, which is that 2 + 2 = 4. You’re not going to even consider whether or not this hurts their feelings, because it’s more important, by far, that they know and accept THE truth, as it really is, not subject to the various random whims of what anyone else chooses to believe.

This concept carries vastly more importance when it comes to our beliefs regarding God, our Creator, His Son Jesus, our Savior, and His Holy Spirit, our Helper; so much importance, in fact, that our eternal fate depends on our believing THE truth, not this or that or any other speculative theory that just seems to make us comfortable, for the time being. I would highly encourage you to re-read everything I’ve shared here, along with the article and all the scripture references. I’m confident that you will be so impressed and overwhelmed by the love God has for us, and what Jesus did for us, that when you fully embrace THE truth, you will be so very much more comfortable and confident in your eternal destiny that you will never look back! If nothing else, please read the book of John! Jesus loves you more than anyone else you will ever know! I love you, too, and I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers! ☺ of John

Friend: I have read the bible. I used to believe. My truth is different now. Since I’ve renounced I’ve been thriving. I believe the bible is just a moral standard. I won’t use god to justify hate in any form. And the devil is not an excuse. I am solely responsible for my life and I’m so much happier for it. Your truths and my truths are just different is all.

Me: Truth is truth. It doesn’t care about our opinions of it, nor does it change simply because someone chooses not to believe it. Just imagine what our world be like if everyone believed lies about everything, simply because they don’t want to believe or embrace actual truths about everything? Moral standards would cease to exist. After all, if I believe murder is ok, then it would literally be ok, because that is my truth. See what I mean? There is no such thing as MY truth or YOUR truth or any other individual’s truth, but only THE truth. You can believe it, and embrace it, and enjoy the fruits of it, or you can dismiss it, and suffer the consequences. That’s why seeking and finding the truth about God and His love for us is so crucial.
